Sat Duan Sip Festival…by Kris Stallworthy

The festival of the Tenth Lunar Month, or in Thai, Sat Duan Sip, is celebrated across the south of Thailand during the fifteenth day of the waning moon period in the tenth lunar month.

This festival is predominately celebrated in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat and honors ones departed ancestors. People believe that it is during this time that our deceased relatives will visit the human world. Food offerings are prepared and brought to the local temples.

Below are photographs taken at this years event at Wat Phra Mahathat in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
