I went with Jaeb to Wat Chalong Phuket Thailand for her to receive blessing . Asanha Bucha is one of the most important Buddhist days.

Asanha Bucha in ThailandThai:อาสาฬหบูชา) is a TheravadaBuddhist festival which typically takes place in July, on the full moon of the eighth lunar month. It is celebrated in CambodiaThailandSri LankaLaosMyanmar and in countries with Theravada Buddhist populations. Asalha Puja, also known as Dhamma Day, is one of Theravada Buddhism’s most important festivals, celebrating as it does the Buddha’s first sermon in which he set out to his five former associates the doctrine that had come to him following his enlightenment. This first pivotal sermon, often referred to as “setting into motion the wheel of dhamma,” is the teaching which is encapsulated for Buddhists in the four noble truths: there is suffering (dukkha); suffering is caused by craving (tanha); there is a state (nibbana) beyond suffering and craving; and finally, the way to nirvana is via the eightfold path. All the various schools and traditions of Buddhism revolve around the central doctrine of the four noble truths

The day is observed by donating offerings to temples and listening to sermons

Looking forward to life in 2016 and reflection of life past 2015

This is about my own personal life and of my Blog Life SE Asia Magazine.  I will cover just a little of the magazine first. It has certainly been an important part of my life in 2015 but not the most important part.

Life Se Asia Magazine 2015

Magazine is just a little older than a year.  My goal was ambitious as trying to cover all of SE Asia.  My primary core value was to have quality reliable articles/post with photos to tell the story!  We have over 35,000 visitors from 148 countries I think ok for  small magazine and goal has been quality not numbers.  Now have 4 companies that have accepted us as affiliates and created a YouTube channel .  We started off with almost 10 bloggers all voluntary.  Keeping them has been the hardest part.  Some go off on their own (which is good) some lose interest.  I hope one day to generate income, more to attract and keep bloggers than in my own pocket.

Love. Food. Asia.

When you´ve never been to Singapore in winter season you may think the people there are not used to the western Christmas culture. But you´re wrong.

When I´ve been there for the first time I went to Orchard Road and saw the lights, trees and beautiful decorations. I never expected a scene like this.

The people in Singapore love Christmas. It doesn´t matter if they are christians or not.

If you plan to visit Singapore you should come in December. Its weird to view Christmas decorations and walk in shorts or in a skirt.

Halong Bay Cruise and Hotel Blog - Paradise Vietnam

What shall we do for New Year’s Eve? is a question that is just as annoying when you’re travelling as it is when you’re at home. New Year’s Eve at home carries with it a certain amount of pressure to have a great time and the result is often somewhat… underwhelming. You’ve spent time with your family over Christmas and it’s time to hook up again with your friends and go crazy. But do you really want to do that after indulging yourself through Christmas?

When you’re away from home, things are sometimes even more difficult as you don’t know where to go or what to do, and the thought of getting caught up in some busy city fireworks surrounded by hordes of people is more than off-putting. One way to get away from at all and to take the pressure off is to spend New Year’s Eve in Halong…

 Christmas Christmas

Of Memories Family

There is a saying

making memories for a lifetime

That was certainly true in my family growing up

Santa Claus is Christmas when you are just a  kid

The most fond memories were in the 1950s.  Right after WWII, middle class in America was growing but life was simple.

I would spend hours looking at catalogs wishing and a hoping.  Od course had to be good or Santa Claus  would not stop by your home.  Westerns were the most popular movies and TV shows so toy guns were popular, so were electric trains  and for girls not much has changed dolls!  Board games also

Foley downtown was all one day great day as they had a whole floor just toys and always a huge train set.  Also a day for telling Santa what you wanted.  While we were looking and dreaming, my mother was shopping.

Growing up, every year my mother had us decorate the Christmas tree,  This was an all evening event.  When very young my sister Beth and I would just gaze at the nativity set and play with the pieces.

My Mother would read to us the Christmas story out of the Bible Luke 2: 1-20

I have a son in America and have wonderful memories of our Christmas together, when he was growing up and with his family. Have many memories as an adult with my sisters, brother, cousins!   I now have 2 small children here in Thailand and making memories for them I hope will be a lifetime of memories for them.  That will be a different article.   Living away from my family in America, often it seems I am the last of my immediate family( my sisters and families, son, and cousins are still living) so I spend time with my memories. A life time of them of Christmas pass.
