Visited a Thai family in a small village near Phimai and they took me there. What a great day. Most of my photos that day was focused on the family. I plan on making another trip here in October.

The Phimai historical park(Thai: ปราสาทหินพิมาย) protects one of the most importantKhmer temples of Thailand. It is located in the town of Phimai, Nakhon Ratchasima province.
The temple marks one end of the Ancient Khmer Highwayfrom Angkor. As the enclosed area of 1020x580m is comparable with that of Angkor Wat, Phimai must have been an important city in the Khmer empire. Most buildings are from the late 11th to the late 12th century, built in the Baphuon, Bayon and Angkor Wat style. However, even though the Khmer at that time were Hindu, the temple was built as a Buddhist temple, as Buddhism in the Khorat area dated back to the 7th century.

There are several hotels in Phimai.
We recommend Phimai Inn Hotel as that is the only one familiar with. Good food and nice pool.

If on an adventure in Thailand a worth while trip is to a local market.
Usual opens in the evening. Will vary in size. I like the larger ones even though can be very crowded. The sites aromas and sounds all a great sensory experience.

A great place for family and an excellent bargain. I was there Christmas Eve with a friend and my kids. I will do a full review this week but want to share now if you are a family on Phuket Thailand for the holidays.
Open 7 days a week 9am to 9pm
There is a restaurant, playground, nursery and more. Later this week will do a full review with lot of photos. My kids loved it. They are 4 and 7.
