Round the World

Ha Long Bay is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world, a ‘must see,’ if you will. But I must admit – I’m always wary of must see’s, major tourist attractions tend to be, well, touristy. This loomed large when our bus from Hanoi made a half hour “rest stop” at a sprawling souvenir market that clearly only existed to sell stuff to tourists during rest stops on their way to and from Ha Long Bay. But to our very pleasant surprise, we had a great time in the overwhelmingly gorgeous bay.

The most popular way to explore Halong Bay is by junk boat, which could more accurately be described as an oversized houseboat with a little extra mobility.
